RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT
Cabin Interior at Harmony |
Since our beginning in 1969, Harmony's residential program enjoys an excellent reputation – as evidenced by countless numbers of alumni who continue to thrive in their own recovery today. Our program offers a comprehensive, structured and supportive treatment experience.
At Harmony, we refer to those in treatment as "clients" rather than "patients." We believe that our approach emulates a campus-like experience wherein clients are educated about the disease of chemical dependency – working through issues and discovering processes that lead to long-term recovery.
The treatment experience at Harmony begins with in-depth professional and medical assessments of the problems caused by the use of chemicals. The client, in collaboration with the treatment team, then coordinates a treatment plan based on his/her individual strengths, needs, abilities and preferences.
A major focus of recovery from addiction includes interaction in group therapy. Our gender specific therapy groups create a supportive and therapeutic setting – allowing for freedom to explore the problems created by addiction. Our emphasis on peer interaction encourages finding workable solutions to those problems through a process of self-disclosure and self-discovery.
We strongly believe in the principles and philosophy embodied in 12-Step programs such as Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, Cocaine Anonymous and other similar self-help support groups. We have found that this approach – outlined back in 1935 and used successfully by millions of people thus far – offers the most responsible and supportive path to long-term recovery from this illness.
GENDER SPECIFIC TREATMENT
In the treatment and recovery process, men and women often have different needs. To address these unique needs, Harmony offers separate programs for men and women.
These gender-specific programs allow for a much more focused, thorough and meaningful exploration of issues – in a comfortable, safe, and supportive environment not often found in "mixed" programs. We find that this approach works extremely well for our clients – men and women alike – as they discuss issues that sometimes are very personal and sensitive in nature.
Harmony also offers men's and women's 12-Step meetings regularly each week that are strongly supported by the 12-Step communities from surrounding areas.
Our campus is set up to easily accommodate these separated programs. In each of the spacious buildings, you will find quiet places for study and comfortable visiting areas. Client cabins are adjacent to the site where each program's activities take place.
Harmony's gender specific treatment, along with a beautiful setting in the Colorado mountains, brings together all the desired ingredients for a peaceful, safe and quality treatment experience.
Our ultimate goal is to see our clients leave with the knowledge and skills necessary to maintain a healthy, happy and long-term sobriety. To paraphrase the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous – we at Harmony hope to be with you in the "fellowship of the spirit" – joining you as partners on the "road to Happy Destiny!"
