Professional Counseling Technician

Assumes responsibility for supervision of students and their activities. Provide structured activities in evening hours. This is a weekend position requiring 12 hours shifts.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise students by assuring that all students are accounted for during shift.
  • Develop, implement, and supervise structured recreation activities of students.
  • Respond to students questions regarding recovery assignments during their study time.
  • Supervise students during their free time in evenings.
  • Prepare and complete shift report for counseling team for following day.
  • Supervise student meals and snack times.
  • Assure that student have signed out to their cabins or rooms by 10:00 p.m.
  • Conduct graduation ceremonies of students
  • Transport students to off campus activities.
  • Participate in counseling team staff meetings, as available.
  • Maintain knowledge of and adhere to harmony policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and competency related to confidentiality and ethical standards of the counseling profession.
  • Attend continuing education classes, if assigned.
  • Assisting with admission including data entry, luggage searches, and vital signs.
  • Any other duties assigned to assist nursing and counseling staff with student needs.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associate Degree in Human Service related field or experience equivalent to degree.
  • Strongly prefer state of Colorado Level I Counselor certification.
  • Physical and emotional health adequate to perform duties.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.
  • If recovering from chemical dependency, two years continued sobriety.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to relate to chemically-dependent persons with both detachment and compassion.
  • Appropriate communication skills with students and co-workers.
  • CPR/First Aid certifiable or certified.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with members of a team. Ability to relate to fellow employees in a realistically supportive manner.
  • Personal maturity reflected by sound judgment and decision-making. Ability to make decisions in crisis situations.
  • Valid Colorado driver's license and eligible for coverage under Harmony Insurance carrier.
