Harmony Introduces the Community Connection Program

So, you survived the "Harmony experience" and now you're back in "real life". Sober life is worthwhile, and you're thinking, "I could do more". Well, this is your chance to work together with other "Harmonoids" to support and enhance (your own) and others' recovery.

What is the purpose of the Harmony Community Connection Program?

The Harmony Community Connection is a program that strives to help ease the transition for Harmony graduates from the inpatient program back into the community in which they live. Generally, the Harmony Community Connection program provides an essential link between treatment and recovery.

Why does a recent Harmony graduate need a Community Connection Program?

Anyone who has been to treatment knows that there can be a lot of fear associated with walking into the first "outside" 12-Step meeting; that being a newcomer in the recovery community can be intimidating; and that reaching out is hard to do.

How does Harmony's Community Connection program work?

Harmony's Continuing Care Counselor matches each graduate leaving Harmony with a Harmony alumni living in the graduate's community who has more than a year of sobriety and connection to the recovery community in that area.

What are the responsibilities of the Community Connection alumni?

The alumni will:

  • Make themselves available by telephone before the individual graduates Harmony
  • Take the graduate to various 12-Step meetings in the area
  • Introduce the graduate to others in the recovery community
  • Explain the benefits of sponsorship and home groups
  • Share their experience, strength and hope and especially the tools they found useful when they transitioned from Harmony

As an alumni, how can I become involved in the Harmony Community Connection program?

If you are an alumni of Harmony and you have more than one year of continuous sobriety, please call Lance Howe; Continuing Care Coordinator, 970.577.3360 or email [email protected].
