commentsHarmony helped me save my life. I learned so much about my addiction and what lead me to the road that nearly killed me. The staff was loving, supportive and expected nothing less than my best. 47 days sober now, and feeling strong. I miss the comfort and security of Harmony, and go back for a dose of love on Saturdays. I look forward to hearing from fellow students. I love you all.

commentsEej is the best; please work with him in a caring way.
commentsI just wanted to send a note to Jack Colmore, Charlotte and all the wonderful Harmony counselors who revealed the road to recovery to my daughter Erika, my wife Jayne and to me. Jack was amazingly compassionate about our fears from the very beginning, before we had even met face to face. He conveyed an immediate feeling of trust and caring that helped us immensely in the first days at Harmony. We are so grateful that God helped us find Harmony. Erika is doing extremely well in her recovery at the Lighthouse and sincerely enjoys living in Florida. We cannot thank all the staff at Harmony enough for the love and compassion that you all gave to us. We will always have a special place in our hearts for Harmony. We plan to stay in touch and become lifelong contributors to the Harmony Foundation. You definitely know the way to recovery. Sincerely, Robert Wassom
commentsThank you Harmony. I will never forget my stay. I learned so much about my addiction as well as myself. Great staff, great people.

commentsI left Harmony the end of July and headed back to St. Louis, my home. No one there has ever heard of Harmony! There are no Harmony graduates anywhere near! So, today I find myself in Denver with a small group of Harmonoids I was in treatment with. Last night we had a "party" with anyone who had signed our books. Many could only be reached by phone, which was OK. Many had gone back out, which is painful. But, we did have a have a party with lots of food, many interesting non-alcoholic drinks and our own AA meeting. I believe that we all gathered strength from our group. Although we are only thinking one day at a time, we plan on futute get-togethers and hope others will join us. For me, future meetings are a question - I live to far away and have a family to deal with! But I know that my friends are here and only an e-mail/phone away. Thanks to Harmony for this board and God willing many others will read it and try to use it.
commentsHi, I am trying to get more info about Harmony, that is not provided on this web-site...such as the insurance they DO accept. I am an unemployed alcoholic/addict with 5 children and I can't afford, but need badly to be a part of your program. i have tried meetings and have been sober a few times...up to almost three years. I feel like I need to have residential treatment...some time away to create a foundation from which to jump into meetings and the local support that is here in Boulder.. Please respond, Mark
commentsI hope and pray that this program works for Maria O'Bryan. I've known her for many years and care for her very much, but have been unable to trust her since she seems to lie about everything. As a result I've had to distance myself from her and although I'd been calling her (at her behest) while at Harmony I've found that she continues to lie and have had to suspend our friendship. I know drinking is a big problem, but if a person isn't honest with themselves or those who care about her, they can't have much of a life (or a soul) whether they drink or not. By the way, I'm the one who sent her the flowers...that was before I found out that what she told about Eddie being her "ex" was not true. It needed to be said.
commentsI was in treatment there in 1971 for drug addiction. Was referred up by the methadone proram in Boulder. I believe you were just starting to admit druggies to the program. I left against medical advice, carried on another 15 years and got clean and sober in 1986. I celebrated 16 years clean and sober last May. I have been working as a primary therapist in the addiction field for the last 10 years. Anybody out there from those notorious university hill days from 70-72 still alive and kickin'? Life is great. patrick oulder. was in boulder area 70-72
commentsTo Brother Curt(Kath): Good luck and God Speed; You have made the right decision; now the work begins. Stay in touch. Scott

commentsThe Art of Peace All life is a manifestation of the spirit, the manifestation of love… All things, material and spiritual, originate from one source and are related as if they were one family. The past, present and future are all contained in the life force. The universe emerged and developed from one source, and we evolved through the optimal process of unification and harmonization… All the principles of heaven and earth are living inside of you. Life itself is the truth, and this will never change. Everything in heaven and earth breathes. Breath is the thread that ties creation together… Now and again, it is necessary to seclude yourself among deep mountain and hidden valleys to restore your link to the source of life. Breathe in and let yourself soar to the ends of the universe; Breathe out and bring the cosmos back inside. Next, breathe up all the fecundity and vibrancy of the earth. Finally, blend the breath of heaven with that of your own becoming the Breath of Life itself. ~ Morihei Ueshiba

commentsHi All, I think about Harmony everyday and that which I learned while there. It truly saved my life. I left there September 2000 and have since completed a fifth step with my sponsor in addition to the outpatient treatment. I want to thank Kathleen for being a great primary counselor, Roger for being so honest and sincere, Dave P. for telling it like it is, Dave D. for standing ground, Gary for pushing so hard, Paul who helped me so spiritually and for those I have not personally mentioned(apologies)thanks so much. Hey, I got a new puppy (golden retriever) and named her Harmony. All that I have done since leaving Harmony has been hard at times, but the rewards are certainly worth the work. I would say to those leaving, do as your told thoroughly...AND GET A SPONSOR!!! I Love You All & God Bless, Rick Howieson

commentsGreetings: I am a stockbroker seeking residential rehabilitation substance abuse treatment. As a consequence in complications of alcohol in my life, I have lost my residence, my professional designations and business affiliations, my automobiles and driving privileges, my longtime relationship with my girlfriend, and am now facing possible bankruptcy. I have visited your website, and would appreciate a package of additional information regarding your services. Also, please advise if there is any financial assistance available for individuals without private health insurance. Thank you for your valuable time and consideration. Sincerely, Les Smith Phone: 803-831-2894 6 Hickory Nut Lane, Clover, SC 29710
commentsTo: Dot Dorman or Jack Colmore Oct. 1st marks the opening of Interventionists Northwest, inc. We picked your brochure at the NAADAC conference in Denver and would like a little more infomation, re: specialization, if any, and costs. We will be referring nation-wide and the focus of our work will be on a more respectful process which will eliminate the traditional approach, leaving the patient in an attitude more conducive to concentrate on healing. Do you have an email through which we can correspond. Counseling work during the day makes our phone time limited and email is turning out to be a blessing with all the preparation work for our opening. By the way, I know area will, having lived and worked in Denver many years. Best, Gordie
commentsHi all! Today I have 1 year... thank you Harmony, for your part in it.
comments7-10-00 My mother was admitted @ The Harmony House this past Friday. I feel wonderful after reading about the program on this website. I am certainly more hopeful about my mother & my whole family's recovery & healing than I've ever been with other "treatment" programs. I can hardly wait for the Saturday evening family visiting dinner & meetings. Thank You All, Holly Scott

commentsOur family is so greatful for the Harmony Foundation. Luke has graduated and so have we. We now have the tools we need to begin our trek towards healing and being healthy. It truly is a miracle, to see Luke positive, motivated and involved in his recovery and sobriety. It is his top priority. He is in Kansas and is excited about his new life. Thank you for everything you have done and all that you have taught us.

commentsI am leaving a message for my brother, Bob, who was admitted to the program last Sunday. Bob, I am relieved and thankful that you have finally decided to get off the spiral of self-destruction, and am hopeful that you are sincere. Remember that even though you are reaching out for help from others, our efforts will be in vain if you don't remain forever vigilant on behalf of yourself. Learn to love and respect all aspects of yourself, whence everything else will fall into place. I LOVE YOU VERY MUCH! Fritz.
commentsJust stopped by. Hope everyone is well. Hope to see you all soon. Larry
commentsI am very anxious. My son so badly needs to be there. I've been told to wait and pray, as he admitted his addiction in therapy on Jan. 4th. Next came the resistance. Now, he's in his apartment and the days are just going by, and the illness just continues. Writing this seems to help me. I just want so much for him to be healthy. He just wants me to forget about it--I can't.
commentsDear Roger Kirby, I wanted to write you and tell you how Im doing. In case you dont remember me. I came to Harmony in July of 1996...and I didnt believe that I had a drug problem. I must have fought everybody In that place trying to convince myself that I didnt have a drug problem. I remember even storming out of one of your groups. All I wanted to do was to get back to Orlando and all of "my friends". when my time was up at the end of the month, all I wanted to do was stay. Its been over 3 years now since I went to Harmony. and my recovery was a roller-coaster for a while. I think to much. I thought that I could find a way to use, but still not consider my self an addict. psychitrists were perfect for that. Like most addicts I was gifted at minipulating doctors into giving me what I wanted, taking it to the pharmacy, and believing that it was what I needed. Well, it was'nt! and I quickly remembered that a relapse begins way before the first pill or drink. This happened three times before my skeeming mind realized step one again. and It was at that point that I realized that everything that I learned at Harmony was true. I no longer live in Orlando anymore and I am no longer involved in the "Rave" sceen. I live south of Salt Lake City. I will be inrolled in collage for spring term and I start my job at a detox center in downtown Salt Lake City next week. my long term goal is to become a Chemical Dependance Counselor. I may decide from that point to go further in my education to achieve a Ph.D. in Psycology and specialize in Chemical Dependance. After alot of meditation and prayer and reflecting on the experiences in my life. I believe that I truely understand the profound impact you and Jan T. made in my life, in a way you both helped me to find a purpose in my life. and that has made the differance. Thank you Steve H.
commentsI am trying to contact Denise Downing. She was a counseler there in 1988. Any help would be appreciated. Jim A.
commentsToday is my 2 year birthday--my first AlAnon mtg. was at Harmony. Boy, I remember how I was going to make him better by going to those meetings. Thanks to you I found out how nuts I was, and each day I work on me. Thank you, thank you. Charlotte, I will never forget you and what an impact you had on me. Love, Marlene |
