NURSE PRACTICIONER
Primary function: Assess and monitor physical and emotional aspects of chemically dependent clients. Prescribe medication, lab testing to assist in withdrawal process.
Supervision: Supervised by the Medical Director
Essential Functions:
a. Leadership abilities.
b. Coordinate treatment efforts with the Medical Director, and Psychologist to facilitate and ensure optimal care of clients. Assist Medical Director, Director of Nursing and nursing staff meet client medical needs. Complete client history and physicals and see clients during “sick call” appointments as needed.
c. Liaison with cooperating community medical services.
d. Other nursing duties as required and assigned.
e. Must have outstanding ethics and ability to maintain confidentiality.
Minimum Requirements:
a. Current Colorado RN license and prescriptive authority. Must be in compliance with all licensing regulations and laws.
b. Current CPR certification.
c. Current First Aid certification.
d. Five years’ experience as a N.P.
e. Experience in treatment of chemical dependency desirable.
f. Willingness and ability to work 12 hour shifts and weekends and be on call.
g. Physical health to perform all duties.
h. Valid Colorado driver’s license and eligible for coverage by Harmony foundation insurance carrier.
i. If recovering from chemical dependency, three years continued sobriety.
j. Fluency in spoken and written English.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
a. Ability to function within the scope of practice of individual licensure.
b. Ability to relate with detachment, understanding, and empathy to chemically dependent clients.
c. Willingness to gain knowledge and understanding of the disease concept and individual counseling procedures in the treatment of chemical dependency.
d. Willingness to obtain basic knowledge of the emotional and physical aspect associated with chemical dependency.
e. Personal maturity reflected by sound judgment and decision making abilities.
f. Ability to function as a team member of the medial department.
g. Ability to communicate effectively with all Harmony staff to ensure the highest possible level of performance. Good written and verbal communication skills.
h. Is dependable, has a minimal amount of unscheduled time off and shows up on time every workday.
i. Always gives Harmony best work and handles constructive criticism appropriately.
Physical Capabilities:
a) Physical health adequate to manipulate stairway, access all areas of Harmony’s grounds, assist with ambulation and perform CPR.
b) Physical ability to lift a maximum of 50lbs.
