Harmony's approach views addiction - whether
to alcohol or another drug - as a medical disease. As
this disease progresses, it has dramatic, often devastating
consequences that impact important life areas - health,
jobs, finances, relationships, and value systems. Our treatment
program is specifically designed to treat the physical, emotional,
spiritual and psychosocial aspects of this disease - a
comprehensive approach to recovery. We believe that with
guided help and through a process of on-going change, our
students can transform themselves into the responsible, stable,
productive, and capable individuals they know themselves
to be. Chief among the goals of our 28-day residential treatment
program, Harmony Foundation seeks to:
- Stabilize the student physically and to
begin the process of restoring some balance back into their
lifestyle.
- Break through the denial system surrounding
the chemical dependency.
- Foster a comprehensive understanding about
the nature of addiction through educational and experiential
presentations, leading to acceptance of the disease.
- Encourage students to accept the 12-Step
philosophy embodied in AA/NA/CA as a vital and necessary
component of their continuing recovery.
- Give students the tools they'll need to
take active responsibility for their recovery.
- Instill in our students that abstinence
from mood/mind-altering chemicals is the most responsible
path to recovery.
- Help students explore, identify, and share
on a feeling level issues that are difficult and uncomfortable
to discuss.
- Improve self-image through personal awareness
and group support.
- Facilitate the development of healthier,
more fulfilling interpersonal relationships.
- Collaborate with students and concerned
others to create a structured aftercare plan that will
sustain gains made in treatment.
- Continue monitoring progress in the early
stages of recovery.
In working with EAP's
and other referral sources, we will coordinate the student's
care every step of the way - from the preadmission screening
process through to discharge planning and Aftercare services.
Our aim is
to provide for a seamless transition of care for our students
as they return to their lives in their own communities. Click
