THE GIFT OF RECOVERY...

Since 1969, Harmony has provided life-saving treatment to over 15,000 individuals. We have thousands of acknowledgments from our alumni describing how the program has saved their families, helped them to become contributing members of their communities, and given them a quality of life that is beyond their imaginations.
Each month, dozens of families and individuals reach out to Harmony to help save a loved one’s life. In many cases, the individual or family cannot afford the fee for treatment. There are very few quality treatment options for those who cannot afford to pay for them.
Harmony has launched a scholarship campaign to serve those who have limited or no financial resources.
Donors will be recognized on www.harmonyfoundationinc.com unless the donor indicates otherwise.
Thank you for your support of Harmony Foundation. Please be assured that your information will be transmitted to us securely, and that we do not sell or share our supporters' information.

Please consider donating your used vehicle to Harmony. Used cars, trucks, campers, even boats can be a great asset to Harmony depending on the condition or mileage. A used vehicle can become the backbone of our transportation network, or could bring funds through resale or auction. You help Harmony and receive a tax deduction for your donation as well.
Frequently Asked Questions:
What can I donate?
You can donate most any vehicle, including cars, trucks, boats, motorcycles and recreational vehicles. They do not have to be currently running. Your vehicle donation will be sold at an auction or to salvage depending on condition.
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes, the Harmony Foundation is a non-profit organization and all donations qualify as a charitable deduction on your federal income tax return.
What do I need to donate my car?
The title to the car must be in your name. We will also need some information about where the car is located and the condition of the car. This will assist us in scheduling appropriate towing arrangements.
Will you pick up my car?
A towing company will call you to schedule the pick-up of your vehicle. You will need to give the driver the keys to the vehicle as well as your signed title.
How is the value of my car determined?
The IRS allows you to take a charitable tax deduction on your federal income tax form equal to the amount the vehicle sells for at auction unless it sells for less than $500. If your vehicle sells for less than $500 you may deduct no more than $500. If your vehicle sells for more than $500, you will need to include the IRS form 1098C. Vehicles for Charity will supply this documentation after your vehicle sells. We recommend you consult your tax advisor with questions about your deduction.
The Harmony Foundation has partnered with Vehicles For Charity to process donated vehicles. Just call 1 866 628 2277 They will answer any other questions you may have and make arrangements to pick up your donation.

Gifts of real estate may take various forms, including the outright gift of a home, building, or property; or a retained life estate arrangement in which you make a gift of your residence to Harmony Foundation today but continue to live in it. Such gifts provide a substantial contribution to Harmony Foundation while giving you tax benefits such as savings on capital gains and estate taxes.

Please consider Harmony Foundation as part of your workplace giving gift. In many workplace giving programs the donor is able to designate a nonprofit organization to support. Ask the campaign leader for a write-in an organization form.

You may consider a Charitable Lead Trust gift to Harmony Foundation. Charitable lead trusts may be an appealing means of transferring assets to your heirs at reduced, or even eliminated, gift or estate tax costs, while providing immediate support to Harmony Foundation. The lead trust pays income to Harmony Foundation for a set period of years, at the end of which the trust's assets revert either to the donor or to your heirs.

You may want to make a significant gift to the Foundation, but you feel that you may not be able to afford giving up current income from your assets. It is possible to make gifts to Harmony Foundation that will allow you and/or another beneficiary to receive income for life. These types of gifts include charitable gift annuities and charitable remainder trusts. You may earn an income tax deduction and reduce estate taxes. When the last beneficiary of a life income gift passes, the remainder then comes to Harmony Foundation.

A gift of an old unneeded policy or of a new life insurance policy may help leverage a relatively small outlay on the part of the donor into a very significant gift for Harmony Foundation. Flexibility of arranging the gift may be attractive. For example, you may simply name Harmony Foundation as beneficiary of a policy, which will allow you to maintain ownership. Or you may sign over the policy to Harmony Foundation as owner and beneficiary, thus maximizing your charitable tax benefits.

You may double - or even triple - the value of your gift to Harmony Foundation. Check to see if your employer matches employees' charitable contributions. Corporations that provide a matching gift program establish their own guidelines with respect to employee eligibility, qualifying recipient organizations (such as Harmony Foundation), and the minimum/maximum contribution that can be matched. Generally, a corporation will match dollar for dollar, but some match at a higher rate.
As a supporter of Harmony Foundation, we encourage you to explore and utilize this method of contributing. If you are interested in procuring a match for your charitable contribution, please contact your employer's human resource department. Your employer will provide a matching gift application form. Fill out the donor part of the form and send it along with your gift to Harmony Foundation. We will take care of processing and returning your application to your employer.
If you are a retiree please ask if your company will match your gift as a retiree.

Gifts from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA), 401(k) plan, Keogh plan, or other qualified retirement savings plan, may be highly advantageous both for you and for Harmony Foundation. If you intend to leave these assets to anyone other than your spouse when you pass, they could be the most heavily taxed of all your assets through both income and estate taxes. By naming Harmony Foundation as beneficiary of your retirement plan assets, you may make a contribution and potentially save significant taxes for your heirs.

Stocks, bonds and mutual fund shares that have been held long term (more than a year and a day) and have appreciated in value can provide Harmony Foundation with a significant contribution. With a gift of securities, you will owe no capital gains taxes and you will be able to claim an income tax deduction for the full fair market value of the asset at the time of the gift.
You may also make a tax-effective gift using securities that have decreased in value. By selling shares and donating the proceeds to the Foundation as a cash gift, you can get a tax deduction for the charitable gift, as well as deduct the loss on your income tax return.
There are several ways to transfer securities to Harmony Foundation. You may work with your broker to complete an electronic transfer or you may hand deliver stock certificates. We ask that you contact our Development Office by emailing [email protected] or calling 970-586-4491 to let us know that the transfer will be occurring.
Gifts made through your will or living trusts (bequests and other types of testamentary arrangements) can provide considerable support for Harmony Foundation and help reduce your estate taxes. You may direct that your gift be in the form of cash or specific asset. In addition, you may set a dollar amount or designate a percentage of your estate to the Foundation in your trust or will.
