Family Day Workshop
Harmony's Family Day Workshop takes place on the third Thursday of each month.
Attendance is open to anyone who would like to attend. Persons 12 years old and older may attend, with anyone 12 - 14 years old accompanied by an adult.
During the Harmony Family Day Workshop, family members and/or concerned others will come to understand that chemical dependency is a disease, that it is not the fault of the family, and that the chemically dependent individual must be responsible for his/her own recovery.
We hope that you will begin to understand how you have been affected by caring about/living with someone with this disease and how you may want to make changes in your attitudes and behaviors. You will be encouraged to develop your own support system in appropriate Twelve Step groups (Al-Anon, Codependents Anonymous, etc.) and Harmony Family Aftercare.
We are aware of how important it is for family members to become involved in their own recovery. It is beneficial for you and your chemically dependent loved one simultaneously.
Check-in for the Workshop is between 8:00 – 8:30am. The program ends at 4:30pm.
The Family Day Workshop takes place at Harmony, in the Swickard Building (pond in front). It includes:
- Information and discussion about chemical dependency and codependency
- Introduction to communication and other recovery tools
- Introduction to Al-Anon, and Al-Anon skills of detachment with love, loving confrontation, and how to be supportive and minimize enabling.
