Nutrition For Recovering Addicts

Harmony’s nutritional program provides three well-balanced meals and snacks daily. The menus are planned, reviewed and analyzed by the Food Service Director and Registered Dietitian to meet the nutritional needs of the individuals in treatment. The nutritional values of all meal items are posted in the dining room of Harmony’s main building.

Nutrition and Addiction Education Class

Clients in our residential addiction treatment program attend a monthly nutrition education class, “Diet in Recovery,” presented by the Registered Dietitian (RD) consultant. The RD provides tools for healthy eating in recovery and diet tips to assist with staying clean and sober post treatment. Individual diets consults are doctor ordered and are scheduled with the RD to provide medical nutritional therapeutic diet instruction for each individual. Diet education materials are presented to the client at the time of diet instruction.

Eating Disorders and Substance Abuse

Understanding that eating disorders may be present with a client admitting to Harmony for substance abuse in our residential addiction treatment, the treatment team (Medical Director, Nurses, Registered Dietitians and Counselors) works together with the client to formulate the most supportive plan for the client’s health and well-being.
